Something to think about

Posted by Sustar Financial Group

The video below shares a touching story. As we mentioned in our previous blog post, September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. We felt sharing this next video might touch you in the same way in touched us. These are not clients of ours….this story was put together by a non-profit organization that was formed to promote the importance of life insurance. We hope you’ll take a moment to hear this story.

Sincerely,
Terry & Jason Sustar, Sustar Financial Group

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. As a financial professional, life insurance is one of the more challenging things to discuss because it deals with our own mortality. Frankly, it is not a “fun” conversation to have. But, it is a RESPONSIBLE and important conversation for us to have with each and every one of our clients.

People purchase life insurance for a number of different reasons. The main reason, however, is simple: protect our loved ones. As we go through Life Insurance Awareness month, I wanted to share with you some important and inspiring videos on life insurance. I ask of you one thing – if you feel it important to discuss your current situation personally, please contact us. In addition, if you feel compelled to share this video content with others, we encourage you to do so.

Sincerely,

Terry & Jason Sustar, Sustar Financial Group

Backyard Memories

Posted by Sustar Financial Group

Sometimes it seems that we’re always talking business in this blog – rate of return, risk, types of investment vehicles. Well, this time I just want to talk about the back yard. We all have them – some small, some big, and some, like my grandkids say, ginormous!! Some of the best times of our lives have been in the backyard. Barbeques, cornhole, bachii ball, swimming, campfires, and smores. It’s not just the things we do while we’re in the backyard but it’s the memories we make.

I still remember my great grandfather sitting in his old wooden chair in the backyard of my grandmother’s house just watching all of us kids wearing ourselves out. Then my uncle would sit us all down and light the fireworks – they were fantastic and huge (of course I was only 4 foot tall.) I lived in a state that allowed fireworks back then – we also didn’t wear bike helmets, we used “real” catcher’s mitts without a pocket while chewing on red shoestring licorice. We hit baseballs with real wooden baseball bats (no such thing a metal bat back then,) and no one knew what a computer was let alone a “video” game. If anyone were to walk up talking on a cell phone we would’ve thought they were from another planet!! Yes, today’s inventions have made the world a more comfortable place and I wouldn’t give them up. But, as you go through this summer, remember to make some memories in the back yard. Maybe you’ll be fondly remembered as the one sitting in the chair - keeping watch over the family.

You Always Have a Choice

Posted by Sustar Financial Group

Being retired just means we need to be more careful with our time. Let me suggest the ABC method of organization. Make a list of the things you have to accomplish. When you have the list complete begin to mark each item on the left side of the paper with the letter “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, or “E”. The letter “A” is for those things that you absolutely must do now. “B” is for those items that you should do, “C” is for those things that it would be nice to do, “D” is for those items in your list that you can and should delegate to others to accomplish, and “E” represents those items that you should eliminate as quickly as possible. You want to eliminate everything of low value and no value so you can focus on the things that really make a difference in your life.

“When you have faith, you believe that every setback contains a lesson that has been sent to you to help you. Norman Vincent Peale used to say, ‘When God wants to send you a gift, He wraps it up in a problem. The bigger the problem He wraps it up in, the bigger the gift that it contains.’

Most people are so preoccupied with the problem, difficulty, or obstacle that they neglect to look inside of it for the gift that it might contain. One of the most important habits you can ever develop is an unshakable belief that every problem in your experience has been sent to you at exactly the right moment in your life to teach you something you need to know to be more successful and happier in the future.”
